“We wish to dedicate this to Raipur, Chhattisgarh & promise to promote new talents in Chhattisgarh & make it bigger than ever!!” were the words spoken by the three lads from Raipur when their band named High Life India became the winner and title holder for Sur Sagar Season 1, a prestigious show of Doordarshan. The band consists of three music composers Amrit Raj, Anshul Sharma & Abhay Naidu. It is remarkable that, they have won 25 Lakhs worth Music and Video Contract and a ticket Bollywood as a new trending music composer.
Sur Sagar is India’s first music reality show. The concept of the show was very impressive, as the artists & bands were allowed to perform their own compositions if any. It provided the young musical talents with the platform for copyrighting their composition and presenting it.
The singers & bands were auditioned from six various cities from India: Lucknow, Kolkata, Mumbai , Delhi, Amritsar and Hyderabad. From these cities top 20 singers & bands were selected from all over India who gave their performance live on Television and out of them top 12 singers & top 12 bands were selected for gala rounds. The bands & singers with maximum number of good performances & songs, reached to finale .
Since 2013, the band has been living & working in Mumbai as freelance music composers, music programmers, singers and musicians. They performed live unplugged shows too and composed songs and music too.
They worked as music composers of few projects, like: “Aasha- palliative care” ( a tata project ) and “Seher” – the film. In 2014, they released their first debut album single “Maahi Maahi” on YouTube, which received very good response from the viewers all around the country.
Then they released many covers & random videos and during the same period, they performed live shows, composed, wrote & created their own songs too. They have worked in Chennai as in-house composers with production house named “Bhrahma Cine Creations Ltd.” for various Tollywood projects. While working in Chennai, High Life band gave the Hyderabad auditions for “Sur Sagar ” and presented their own debut composition ” Maahi Maahi“.
They made a remark on the show! Judges welcomed them with open arms and declared High Life as their personal favorite. Judges of the show were renowned Leslie Lewis, Shilpa Rao and playback singer Soham Chakrabarti.
High life band presented “Na Jaake Kyun” their own composition. The judges loved the composition and gave them standing ovation; even Shilpa Rao sung their song and called them brilliant! And High life got promoted to next round. Few performances like: Anyanam a Tamil song, Laga Chunari Mei Daag, Jaaniya, Saiyaan in the show made unique differences. The songs were loved by the judges and audiences as well. The band has been consistent in their performances and was directly sent to top 5 finalists.
At present the band members are working on their new projects and are hoping high to promote many other young talents of the state and take the passion for music to another level.
