A weaver (bunkar) of Kosa and raw silk, Devanand Dewangan, basically from Bilaigarh,Baloda Bazaar, (who has held his stall at this exhibition) shared his experiences saying that he has been working as a weaver since last 30 years and this craft is the main source of livelihood for him.
He exhibits his materials at various places and the government of Chhattisgarh here gives them a National platform to present their work.
He loves his job and it gives him immense satisfaction to weave this fabric. People who know about quality can’t help but appreciate the finesse in his work. And that is what keeps him going in his life.
Devanand told with the smile of pride on his face that Dangal Girls Geeta and Babita Phogat visited his stall during their recent visit to the city and they also bought some dress materials from his stall. After that Devanand received a number of orders.
About taste of the city people, he told that nowadays people prefer raw silk as when it comes to getting their dresses designed and stitched as it is easy to carry and comfortable to wear.
